ARTIST STATEMENT
The evolution of HER transpires through my art which is filled with real experiences and struggles with the intention to deliver us on a journey of indulgent self reflection. My aesthetic principles have always relied heavily on the female form and the animal kingdom while creating a dynamic juxtaposition between contemporary reality and our allusive imaginations. The custom framework utilizing metal and copper materials allows for each work to transform and travel to one’s subconscious, illustrating a personal tale of vanity that resides in us all. Education has always been a powerful tool in my studio practice as it has the power to transform and heal communities with visual intent. It is my belief that everyone in their own time should have the ability to become great visual thinkers and creators. To give others the same gift I was given by my art educators holds great power and meaning in one’s academic career.

BIOGRAPHY
Jaimee Newman is a contemporary artist in Philadelphia. Her work has been exhibited nationwide with acquisitions in hotels and commissioned by numerous private collectors. A few of her clients include NYLO Hotels New York City, K9 Resorts in Pennsylvania, and The Charmant Hotel in Wisconsin. Jaimee is a certified educator of art and has taught art across the tristate area. She has taught Visual Development at the postsecondary level to students at The Academy at Makeup Forever in NYC, the affiliate partner to the popular television show “FaceOff.” Jaimee has completed an artist residency with The Philadelphia Museum of Art and Philadelphia Arts in Education Partnership, where she taught visual art in various schools and host sites across Philadelphia. She respectfully holds her Bachelors in Fine Arts/Illustration from The School of Visual Arts in New York City while currently residing and working in Philadelphia with her husband and two children.
